several initiatives that will see the skate environment in South Africa
grow. Sponsorships are a vital key to an athlete’s career opening up
opportunities for a talented individual to establish him/her self as a
professional skater. We as Meerkat Grind are taking the responsibility of
giving South African Skate enthusiasts a chance to break in the industry.
Sponsoring season will begin soon which will aim on positioning the skate
culture in South Africa
to international standards. There is tremendous potential in being sponsored as
an action sports athlete because the biggest skate opportunities and
competitions in the world widely regard sponsored skaters. The standard will be
judged at a very demanding performance level as these skaters (skate team)
might have an opportunity to engage in big competitions like the Street
league series qualifiers, Maloof Money cup series, Dew Tour or even the X Games

2. Skate competitions
Owing to the growth in
skateboarding we as Meerkat Grind are planning on hosting skate competitions
for the development of the skate culture in South Africa . Grinders have to bear
in mind that competitions will be organised depending on the skate population
growth and support in the interest of the organisation. These competitions will
highlight the level of skateboarding in South Africa as international
investors and prominent skateboarding movers and shakers will be present.
